八字捉用神

Ba Zi, in full Chinese is 四柱八字, which usually known as “Four Pillars of Destiny” is the study of a person’s life & life’s flow pattern. Chinese ancestors believe that a human being possess “vital energy” or “qi” (炁或氣) or “vital spirit” (元神/日元) when a person was born. This “qi” is represented by one of the known five elements namely the wood (spring) element, the fire (summer) element, earth (transitions of seasons) element, metal (autumn) element and water (winter) element. It will be affected by other elements found in the year, month, day and time pillars of birth erected. In addition, there are luck cycles which are erected based on the month of birth. These luck cycles would also constitutes to the influence of the person’s life when read in conjunction with the complete set of the four pillars.
A person’s growth is similar to growing of grains in general. Planting starts from Spring (wood), growing and nurturing was done during Summer (fire), Harvesting was done during autumn (metal) and storage during winter (water) period. Hence, if one part of this chain was not properly taken care of, disasters or mishaps may happen. Therefore, to know our life pattern at earlier stage can assist us in good planning and working towards our future.

奇門遁甲

Qi Men Dun Jia (奇门遁甲) was regarded as one of top “three styles” (三式) in ancient China whereby the other two is “liu ren” (六壬) and “tai yi shen shu” (太乙神数).
It was first used in military warfare some 5000 to 6000 years ago in China. The legendly great Chinese ancestors “Huang Di” (黄帝) & “Chi You” (蚩尤) were fighting with each other and “Huang Di” was always losing. Huang Di then prayed hard to heaven for winning the war.
A lady deity name “jiu tian xuan nu” (九天玄女) who believed is a librarian of the Heavenly Beings, brought a heavenly secrets book named “The Dragon Chapters” (龍甲神章) which partly involves Qi Men Dun Jia secrets, the use of talismans, creation of advanced weapons of that era, art of war, etc. and taught all these knowledge by entering into Huang Di’s many dreams.
Huang Di then immediately recorded these theories every time he woke up from these “strange” dreams. Finally, the complete information was consolidated and together with his male subject minister “Feng Hou” (風后), they produced the art of war, advanced devices, weapons and Qi Men Dun Jia out of all these information and finally defeated “Chi You” and conquered part of China.
The Legend began from then onwards, and these three styles had always been kept as top secrets as these studies describe the heavenly secrets; which only the Emperor himself and the Emperor’s top astrologers were able to access these information. These arts if fallen into the wrong hands would cause great harm to the people.

藏風聚氣,谓之風水。

Feng Shui literally means “wind” & “water” in Chinese. Chinese ancestors were living together as a huge community and they had observed the natural environment and concluded that the environment, weather, etc had always influenced part of their life. The study of how to protect humans from adverse weathers, how to keep us warm during cold & windy or rainy seasons, how to keep away unfriendly fierce animals from attacking us, etc.; had become a very important way of living in peace (except wars) of that era.
Hence as time goes by, Chinese especially the HANS group (汉 or 漢族) believe that by enhancing our living environment using good feng shui knowledge shall bring us prosperity, fortune, health and luck improvements, etc.
We believe that if our houses or living apartments are surrounded by clean water pathways or rivers, etc. it shall bring us prosperity as water denotes wealth in general. In ancient China, getting such clean water was never been an easy task. Naturally, water comes in from the sea which was then channeled into many men-dug rivers and naturally filtered via the sands, stones, etc. via the streams of sub-rivers and finally feed the ground necessary for cultivation of grains (for food), etc. and indirectly also created clean water enough for us to drink. Hence getting of clean water has been seen as the sign of wealth.
In addition, we are also concern on our humans’ relationships and health. Hence a good series of mountain structure around our houses or place of living in the correct position is also very important to us. Wealthy without a good health means nothing meaningful to us as if we cannot enjoy our wealth is deemed useless. Hence our ancestors concluded that we shall be “protected” by good, strong and healthy mountains to enhance the above.
Many great Masters and theories were evolved since earlier stage and finally comes out with many popular feng shui theories used by most modern feng shui Masters nowadays.
